The BIG DADDY

St. John's Bar & Grill is one of my favorite local joints to chow down when I'm craving for a good burger.  Behold their signature "Big Daddy" burger.  Composing of three 1/3 pound beef patties, and all the fixings this bad boy weighs in a little bit over a pound.  None the less both Elson and I conquered it.. all that remained was the cheesy grease... Ok time to slip into a food coma...

The High Life

Henry's High Life is one of my all time favorite places to eat BBQ, specifically their baby back ribs.  Located in downtown San Jose behind the HP Pavilion, formerly known as the San Jose Arena, Henry's has been serving up their mouth watering BBQ since 1960.  It was also featured on the TV show, Man Vs Food.
As you know, eating is always more enjoyable with company.  My buddy, Trevor who has never been to the High Life, joined me so that he could experience the awesomeness that is Henry's.  It was barely after 5pm when we arrived and it was already packed. This wasn't really a surprise since there was a Sharks game later that evening.   A word to the wise, when eating at Henry's, it's always good to take into account there is wait time to order your food and then more wait time just to get seated.  Our overall wait was bout close to and hour... yeah its just that busy but it's totally worth it.  I ordered my usual, the full rack of baby back ribs, and Trevor had a teriyaki steak.  The meal came with a salad, baked potato with garlic butter and garlic bread.

Trevor enjoyed his steak, however it wasn't super tender but was very delicious.  He described his baked potato being "butterific", just like the garlic bread, which was more butter than bread.  The baby back ribs are always cooked to a perfection. The meat itself is deliciously tender and moist to the point where it comes right off the bone. While Henry's provides addition BBQ sauce for the ribs, I find that there is no need for it because every bite is already packed with the rich and awesome flavor of BBQ. Normally a half rack of ribs is enough but eating a full rack without barfing is an achievement.  This pic is for you Trevor.
We both Henry's full and ready to slip into a food coma... Hella good time, hella good friends and Hella Good FOOD!

Time Deli

On the way home the other week from Race Street Seafood Kitchen, I spotted a sign that said "Tri-Tip sandwich every day!"  Intrigued, I decided to try Time Deli off of South Bascom Avenue in San Jose, for lunch.

My sandwich came with a cup of minestrone soup.  Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with my meal... the tri-tip meat was thinly sliced and kinda dry. Even with the BBQ sauce it seemed to lack in the flavor department.  The sandwich was rather disappointing compared to other tri-tip I've eaten before, i.e Porter Street BBQ in Sonoma and even Texas Smoke-house BBQ in San Jose.  My soup was tasty and fresh with lots of veggies and pasta, then again its pretty hard to mess up minestrone soup.  Overall, the meal wasn't worth the price paid, and I'm less than likely to eat here again.

First Post

Welcome I'm Kev, and this is my blog.  I'm just your normal guy who's got food on the brain 24/7.  For quite some time now, my friends and co-workers have been telling me to make a food blog of the places I've eaten. So stay tuned, and I'll be posting my adventures of pursuing and eating some Hella Good Food.
